Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 29, 2024
Welcome to Pixid (pixid.cz), an online pixel art platformer editor. Pixid is an indie project. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in connection with our Service.
By using the Pixid Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Handle
Pixid is designed to be a creative tool. We aim to collect minimal personal information.
Information You Provide or Create:
- Account Information (Optional, via Google Sign-In): If you choose to sign in using your Google account, Google provides us with your basic profile information (such as name, email address, and profile picture) to identify you within the Service. We use this only to associate your saved projects (if you choose to save them via your Google Drive or similar, not on our servers) with your identity. We do not request access to other Google data.
- User Content (Projects): All projects, levels, tiles, characters, and other content you create are, by default, stored **locally in your web browser's storage** or saved as files **directly to your own device**. Pixid does not automatically store your creative work on our servers. If you use Google Sign-In, future features might allow you to save/load projects to/from your own Google Drive, in which case Google's privacy policy would also apply to that storage.
Information Collected Automatically:
- Log Files (Minimal): Like most websites, our hosting server may automatically log basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and access times. This data is used for maintaining the security and functionality of the Service and is typically not used to personally identify you.
- Cookies (Strictly Necessary): We may use a minimal number of cookies that are strictly necessary for the Service to function, for example, to remember your session if you are logged in via Google. We do not use third-party tracking or advertising cookies.
- Browser Local Storage: As mentioned, guest users (and logged-in users for their current work before explicitly saving) utilize your browser's Local Storage to temporarily hold project data. This data remains on your device.
2. How We Use Information
Any information we handle is used for the following core purposes:
- To enable you to use the Pixid editor and its features.
- To allow optional Google Sign-In for user identification (if you choose to use it).
- To maintain and improve the Service's functionality and security.
- To respond to any direct support inquiries you might send us.
We do not use your creative content or personal information for advertising or profiling.
3. Sharing of Information
Pixid is an indie project. We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to others.
- Google: If you use Google Sign-In, certain information is shared with Google as part of that authentication process, governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
- Service Hosting: Our website host may have access to server logs as part of their standard operations.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a legal obligation or protect our rights or the safety of others.
4. Data Storage and Security
Project Data: Your creative projects are primarily stored locally on your device using browser storage or by you saving files. Pixid does not have its own servers for storing your project data by default.
Account Data: If you sign in with Google, your identity information is managed by Google. We only store the basic identifiers provided by Google to recognize you within our Service.
We implement reasonable technical measures to protect the Service itself, but the security of data stored on your own device or with third-party services like Google Drive (if you choose to use it) is your responsibility.
5. Your Control and Rights
Since most data (especially your creative projects) is stored locally or managed by you:
- You have full control over your locally saved project files.
- You can clear your browser's Local Storage to remove any data Pixid has stored there.
- If you sign in with Google, you can manage your Google account and its permissions through Google's settings. You can revoke Pixid's access at any time via your Google account security settings.
If you have provided us with any personal information directly (e.g., through email) and wish to access, correct, or delete it, please contact us.
6. Children's Privacy
Pixid is a creative tool that can be enjoyed by users of all ages, including children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of consent in your region) without parental consent if required by law. The Google Sign-In feature is subject to Google's own age restrictions and policies.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information through Google Sign-In without your consent (where required), please contact us so we can take appropriate action. The projects created by children are stored locally on their device or managed by them, and we do not access this content.
7. Cookies
We use only strictly necessary cookies for the basic operation of the Service (e.g., for login sessions if you use Google Sign-In). We do not use cookies for tracking, advertising, or non-essential analytics.
8. Links to Other Websites
Our Service may contain links to other websites (e.g., a "Buy Me a Coffee" link). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these other sites. We encourage you to be aware when you leave our Service and to read the privacy statements of any other site that collects personally identifiable information.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new Privacy Policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
